How COVID-19 change the way you work in the manufacturing industry?

|POST BY : ADMIN | ON : 30 OCTOBER 2020

The global COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to reimagine our day-to-day to reduce the risk of transmission. The manufacturing industry is not exempted from this. The traditional operational methods may need adjustments to ensure the health and safety of the company.

Some examples of traditional processes that might need adjustments include employees using fingerprints or manual sign-ins for time attendance. Continuing with this method will now require an extra step of sanitization after every sign-in and sign-out to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Companies may even need to think of a contactless solution to that.

On top of that, a stricter visitor management system is needed to ensure that visitors – be it, drivers, delivery persons, or clients entering the premises – have valid health declarations. The ability to keep track and monitor each and every individual who has entered the premises also take on a whole new level of importance. Such records are needed in the event of a viral outbreak for contact tracing purposes. Manual logbooks may not be practical for those instances.

Manufacturers are now faced with the risk of plant or factory closures in COVID-19 red zones as well as possible viral outbreaks within their operating premises. With that in mind, manufacturers would have to put in place new safety and health standard operating procedures that include sanitization processes, contact and mobility tracing, frequent temperature and health checks, and social distancing regulations.

What now?

These changes may be quite an adjustment to make. By automating these procedures, manufacturers can have an effective system in place immediately. Companies are now advised to automate and digitize their operations as much as possible to increase efficiency and to decrease dependence on in-person operations. Our Visitor Management System (ViMS) can do exactly that, allowing for strict safety contingency procedures that are automated.

The word Visitor encompasses anyone from outsiders making occasional visits to your premises (delivery persons, suppliers, clients, sanitization crew) to employees who visit daily. Now more than ever, it is vital to keep track and manage traffic going in and out of your premises. All it takes for a viral outbreak is one infected person and loosely enforced social distancing regulation.

How does the Visitor Management System help?

Taking the saying “Prevention is better than cure” to heart, having strict health checks before granting access to the premise would greatly minimize COVID-19 risk.

Employee health check management

Through this system, each employee will have a personal unique URL link to update their daily health declaration. This information will then be integrated with our Facial Recognition system to automatically capture the employee’s temperature data and verify the health declaration before entry is allowed.

Visitor health check and management

Visitors will be screened and registered through similar procedures, allowing for contactless check-ins. Visitors who fail the health check or did not complete the safety briefing will be prohibited from entering. This system also limits the number of visitors allowed on the premises to avoid overcrowding. Not only that, contractors and suppliers who are compulsory for safety briefing will be enrolled to Digital Safety Briefing to comply with Health & Safety policy.

Pre-appointment management

ViMS also has a pre-appointment management feature where employers can create an appointment for visitors who will automatically receive an email with the appointment details and QR code for a quick check-in. The host will receive a notification upon visitor arrival. For higher security, an additional level of approval requirements can be put in place before the appointment made is approved. Visitors can also be assigned with the number of hours allowed. An auto alert will be sent to security guard once overstayed.

Detailed records & Real-time updates for Contact Tracing

Employers will have digitalized records of who was where and when. This would come in handy for accurate and detailed contact tracing in the event of an actual viral outbreak.

The spread of COVID-19 is incredibly time-sensitive. This is where the ViMS real-time information integration and updates will play a vital part in outbreak containment in the event of outbreaks. Real-time updates allow for a quick response.

Peace of mind with ViMS

The COVID-19 pandemic undeniably presents a host of challenges to the industry on various fronts, particularly in its daily operations. Adjustments to the new norms and practices of safety procedures could be integrated swiftly and hassle-free with the Visitor Management System (ViMS), giving manufacturers peace of mind while running their operations.
